Welcome to the grand reopening of Seven Canyons Golf Club, a stunning golf course nestled in a series of canyons that could easily be mistaken for a national park. Dave Bisbee, a key figure at the club, shares insights into the extensive restoration that has breathed new life into this unique golfing destination.

A Vision of Restoration
Two years ago, under new ownership, a bold mission was set to revitalize Seven Canyons Golf Club. The goal was not merely to renovate but to restore the club to its original glory as envisioned when it first opened its doors in 2003. “We’re not calling this a renovation,” Dave explains, “we’re calling it a restoration of the golf course.” This year marks the first full season the course has been open since the restoration, signaling a new era for the club.

The restoration involved a complete overhaul of the golf course and clubhouse, along with the addition of new amenities. Every aspect of the course was meticulously upgraded, including the drainage systems, irrigation, and the bunkers, ensuring that the course not only retains but enhances the original design laid out by Tom Weiskopf, a legendary figure in golf course design.

A Vision of Restoration

The restoration involved a complete overhaul of the golf course and clubhouse, along with the addition of new amenities. Every aspect of the course was meticulously upgraded, including the drainage systems, irrigation, and the bunkers, ensuring that the course not only retains but enhances the original design laid out by Tom Weiskopf, a legendary figure in golf course design.

Honoring Tom Weiskopf’s Legacy
Tom Weiskopf, the original designer of the course, held Seven Canyons close to his heart, considering it one of his top two designs. His design philosophy was heavily influenced by traditional Scottish links courses, favoring natural contours and strategic play over brute force. “Tom likes to have those kind of shot values where you’re using gravity to move the ball instead of up in the air,” Dave recalls.

Tragically, Tom Weiskopf passed away recently, but not before he could see the fruits of the restoration. In his honor, the club has commissioned a life-size statue that will greet players at the first tee, a fitting tribute to a man who had such a profound impact on the course and its community. “You’re gonna be welcomed to the first tee by Tom Weiskopf every time you play here,” Dave notes, highlighting the deep respect and admiration for Weiskopf’s contributions.

Innovative Features and Membership Opportunities
The restoration also introduced new features to enhance the golfing experience. A standout addition is the new short game area, dubbed a “practice park,” which includes seven different tee pads that allow for a variety of short game shots around a central green, affectionately known as “Tom’s Secret 7.”

Membership at Seven Canyons is now more accessible than ever, with options ranging from fractional ownership of spectacular villas to gateway memberships that do not require full-time residency. These memberships provide flexibility in how and when members can enjoy their time at the club, catering to both long stays and short visits.
