Through all the setbacks 2020 has thrown our way, the golf community in Denver, CO showed up for an organization called Milestones for Maxwell and supported an awesome family, an incredible child and a great cause.

Maxwell and Riley Freed were born on March 27th, 2017. A couple months later, Maxwell was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease that was causing problems with his neurological system. This disease is so rare the doctors and scientists only know it by SLC6A1.

In came Amber Freed, Mother of Maxwell and Riley and started Milestones for Maxwell andn SLC6A1 Connect.

The goal is to find a cure to this nasty disease but also many diseases in the future that need curing. The hope is to raise money for a gene therapy that can help Maxwell and other children who suffer with this disease along with treatments for epilepsy, autism and schizophrenia.

You can DONATE! Because of COVID and the setbacks everyone is facing, they haven’t had the ability to get the word out and raise the funds needed for research. They still need to raise $3million in the next years to advance the treatment from bench to bedside.

On August 17th, Fossil Trace Golf Club in Golden, CO played host to the first annual Milestones for Maxwell golf tournament. During a pandemic, the golf community of Denver, CO and across the nation gathered at Fossil Trace to support Maxwell, the Freed Family and SLC6A1 Connect.

With everything going on, golf has continually been a safe and healthy place for people to go to get away, get out of the house and to get some fresh air. There are not very many sports where people can get together and raise money for an incredible cause like Milestones For Maxwell during a wold pandemic.
