Hi, I'm Steve Atherton, p G a Master Teaching Professional at Eagle Springs Golf Club in Walcott, Colorado. One of the most difficult shots around the greens is a severe downhill slope where you need to stop the ball quickly. And one of the biggest things I see that causes problems with amateurs is they don't set up to the golf ball correctly to hit the shot. What ends up happening a lot of times is the body is too level and the golfer is trying to help the ball up in the air because they need to stop it quickly. And when you do that, you increase the chances that you're gonna hit the ball fat or you're gonna pick the ball clean, trying to pick it up in the air. So what we wanna do is we wanna make sure we get a nice wide stance. We're gonna put all of the weight on the left foot. Open the face slightly and we're going to slide the club down the hill. I want you to follow through low. You need to try to accelerate the club, pass the ball low, and let the loft pop it up in the air. So it's gonna look like this. We're gonna get on the left foot, we're gonna keep the right shoulder. High ball is just forward of center of my stance, and I'm gonna swing down the slope that's gonna get the ball to land nice and soft on the green. Make sure you're stable on the slope. Shoulders matching the line and swing down the…
