This is "Golf Life." Here's your host, Mike Billingsley. Welcome to "Golf Life." We're coming to you from the premier golf destination in the Denver area, Omni Interlocken Hotel and Golf Club. 27 holes and one seriously impressive resort. If you're watching from anywhere in the US or right here in Denver, let me show you why you've got to visit Omni Interlocken. Base camp is kind of our motto. Base camp is where literally you can get to Boulder within 20 minutes. You can get to downtown Denver in 20 minutes. You're 30 minutes from the airport, and then you can get up to Rocky Mountain National Park, and it starts right here at the base camp here at Omni Interlocken. I always look forward to being able to come out and play at the Omni. And there's a lot of reasons. There are three nines. They're all different. The views are stupendous out here. It just lifts your spirits. And each nine has a whole variety of holes. You never get bored coming out here and playing. Most important part are the people are welcoming out here. Omni Interlocken is the best golf destination, especially from the resort aspect, being able to stay here on property and closely having 27 championship-level holes right next door. We're absolutely trying to establish ourselves as the best golf course resort here in Denver. Coming in from out of town is phenomenal because you have the hotel, which is a block and a half away from the clubhouse. It's got two pools, giant hot tub. They serve food and beverages there at the pool. So in between rounds of golf, it's a place for your family to hang out. There's three nine-hole courses here, so there's definite different dynamics and different combinations of 18 holes you can put together. So in terms of a resort destination getaway, you're right close to Rocky Mountain National Park, close to Boulder, close to Denver. There really isn't a better place to be. Yeah, this course is amazing. As soon as you drive in, it's already pretty welcoming and inviting. And when you tee off, each shot is unique in itself. It's gorgeous, and you also feel confident going up to each shot, just the way the landscape is set out. And then when you see that ball flight and the ball approach the green, it's probably one of the most beautiful things I've seen. So hitting a ball at altitude's a little bit different than at sea level. Functionally, the ball goes further by about 8%. It also curves a little bit less, and the wind affects the ball about half as much here in Colorado as it does, say, at sea level. So those are the three biggies about playing golf at altitude. I think it's one of the top courses for sure, and destinations in Colorado by far. Again, with everything that they have to offer, it's just a great place to be. Wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Oh, it's absolutely the premier Denver golf resort destination. There's nothing better in the area in terms of conditions, proximity, and on top of that, with the three nines, you never get the same thing two days in a row. To share these golf experiences with my family has been awesome, the views and just the course itself. See the Rocky Mountains behind me. Absolutely gorgeous views. I haven't seen anything like this where I come from, and just the course itself is awesome as well. Today was my first time playing the course, so I have to say, first off, the course conditions itself were immaculate. The greens, the fairways, the tee boxes. Having the Rocky Mountains behind you is simply amazing, along with the clubhouse, short walk to the practice facility. The facilities offer all kinds of practice opportunities. You can grab a lesson if you've got a few hours in the afternoon if you're visiting. It's top of the list for people not only who come here, but for the people who live in the area. We feel grateful we can access these set of courses and play them. This is a prime location. You're only 15, 20 minutes from downtown, 15, 20 minutes to Boulder. Pretty close by. There's a lot of action around here if you want to head into Boulder and into Denver. And this golf course, as much as it's close to the city, it still feels like you're kind of tucked away closer to the foothills, and it's an amazing golf course. If you're going to stay here on the property, the hotel is really nice, which is only, you can take a golf cart to the course. If you wanted to go outside of the area, you could do that, but if you don't want to, you could also stay very close with a lot of places you can go to. There's a pool, beautiful hotel, things for all members of the family to do. It's a great spot to be. There's complimentary transportation that you can get at the front desk, and you can come straight here to the clubhouse. You come talk to our golf shop attendants. They'll be able to assist you with tee times. We also have complimentary use of the practice facility if you don't have time to play that 18 holes while you're staying here. But we do have complimentary rental clubs, which is our Callaway partners. You'll be able to use their driving range if you don't have that time to play that nine or 18 holes. If you are in a good spot with your golf game, come out, warm up, enjoy the golf course. But if you are maybe worried about how you're going to play on this trip, or you've got something that's holding you back, maybe you can't get off the tee, maybe you've got the chipping yips, maybe you've got the shanks, that's the worst of them as far as being able to enjoy the golf course, call up or send us a note. Alicia or myself might be able to help you with some small problem like that. We're not going to try to overhaul your swing, but we might be able to at least get you functional enough to enjoy the stay. I've gone on a lot of golf trips all over the country, and in terms of having all of the amenities in one spot, you have Chef's Restaurant, which is a phenomenal bar. You have the outdoor pool, hot tub. You have a spa, world-class spa with massages, and there's a sauna. And then you've got the three nine-hole golf courses. It really is a one-stop shop for an out-of-state golf destination. Definitely a massage. Yes. I've often gotten, "That's the best massage I've had anywhere." So that's probably the biggest thing. They're like, "That's the best massage I've ever had," and I get them all the time. We offer an infrared sauna for any of our guests that's complimentary, which often feels good after an activity. And then our spa guests also have access to our pools, hot tub, and fitness center I'd say it's an incredible place to be able to recharge the batteries. Sometimes being able to take a step away, recharge the batteries, and take a step away from life for a little bit can definitely be a great thing, and it's a great place to do it here. Oh, it's amazing. The amenities here are excellent. The golf course is excellent. The staff is great. Couldn't ask for anything better. And look at this backdrop. So Omni really goes for what we call the trilogy, right? So the we all are one, the owners, the guests, and the associate, right? We all are one, or we are all one, one unity, one family. Well, first of all, we're just a company that is strong in customer service. That's what we do. We take care of our guests from the bottom to the top. What I want them to feel is that they were well taken care of, the course was in great shape for them, they had a good time. They ate, they drank, everybody greeted them in a good manner, so. When families come here and, and there are a lot of different things to do. Of course, you have the mountains, you can hike, you can ride, you can fish. And when you're on the golf course, it's a great way to get the generations together. I feel really fortunate I can still get out and play with the younger folks. They allow me to play with them, and I can still hold my own if I play some of the tees that are a little bit up. And, so it's well designed that way. It's just set up really nicely for a family experience. Going through our omnihotels.com, where you can go ahead and book your stay. You can also book your packages, golf packages. We have those offerings, and you can book those as far out in advance as you would like. Then we also have opportunities at interlockinggolf.com, where a daily fee, local guests can go ahead and book reservations out there. Tee times are available. The golf course speaks for itself. Omni is the spot to come to. I've got to say, Omni's probably ranked in the top two, if not three golf courses in Colorado I've ever played. The weather in Colorado in fall, you can't beat it. With the trees turning colors and the temperature, this is the place to be. It's beautiful out here. We learn more about Blitz Golf from Australia when "Golf Life" returns. Simon, so fun to have you here on "Golf Life." What you've created really got my attention. Could you tell our viewers about Blitz Golf? Yeah, absolutely. Look, Blitz Golf is basically a short format of golf, which comprises professionals and celebrities going head-to-head. It's a 24-player event. They play six holes of golf. We cut the field in half. Those top 12 advance and play a three-hole blitz. Scores reset, start again. So it's like the format really is designed around every shot matters. So, one bad shot will definitely send you home. And then from the 12 players, the top four advance to a sudden-death final. So, if you think about it, six holes becomes three, becomes one. 24 players becomes 12, becomes four. So it's super sharp, three-hour format, said professionals, celebrities, head-to-head, influencers, and it's just been a wild ride so far. It's been some great events that we've run over the last eight years. I noticed that, I thought, well, if it's just three holes, you really got to play fast right away, but it's not the case. And it's a brilliant way that you guys created it, because it is six holes, so you really have to continue to compete for that six, and then the three. You've ultimately played nine holes and then 10 holes if you get all the way to the finals. So, it's got that short burst, but you also really have to play and stay in your game, right? So it's kind of the best of both worlds. Yeah, 100%. We found a lot of players that don't quite understand how to go about it and they sort of attack it a little bit too aggressively in the six holes. And, half the field's going through. Yes, you have to play good golf and you're not going to get through without even par, maybe one under. But, the three holes is where you've really then got to switch gears and really attack it and chase those birdies. We've had events where, one under is not good enough and two under's required to get through to the final, and over that's three holes. And what we then do is, if there's any ties at the end of the round, it goes to a nearest the pin shootout. So, the last thing you want to be doing is stuck on the cut line, where you're competing maybe against six people for one spot in the final, which we've had a number of times. It's built for the fans. It's highly entertaining product and, we think it's going to explode onto the US market next year as well, which is going to be fantastic. Well, that's the segue thank you, that I wanted to get into, is what also caught my attention was your last shows that were from London, and just the response to the crowds, and then you mentioned during those shows that you're coming to the US, and I think that's just brilliant. So that's exciting for us. But I would encourage people, tell us about the London event, and obviously the events from Australia as well. Yeah, look, so it's been running in Australia since 2018. We've now run almost 30 professional events in that time, and it's been growing steadily. So unlike sort of other leagues, it's been sort of self-funded and growing organically for the best part of six, seven years. And we just made the decision that at some point, we're always going to go global with this, and the time is right. We just set record crowds in Australia. So England got the four events just in June just gone, and they were a tremendous success. The golf, the media, the quality of players and celebrities that got around it. We had our record first-ever crowds for new events turn up to all of our events in England, and the model was always to get to the US, the biggest golf market in the world. It was always going to get there. We just wanted to make sure that when we came, we were ready, and we are now. And our first events will be on American soil in late 2027. Sort of business plan from day one, it was to have our series around the world, each of those series being six events, 24 events globally. The winner of each would win their way through to a world final, and then you've got 24 players, 24 winners playing in a large world final somewhere in the world. The level of play that you had, the type of celebrities, the type of influencers, golf personalities, and even players that you had in London, it sets up- Yeah ... really well that I would imagine you're going to have some pretty big names and a lot of excitement here in the US as well. Yeah, I think so. If you look at the quality of professionals and celebrities that have gotten around it so far, it's been awesome. So obviously when we get to the US, it's just such a big market. There are so many quality golfers, so many celebrities, and such a sports-loving country that there's not going to be difficult to fill 24 players. Yeah, I don't think you'll have a hard time finding 24. You might have to hold qualifiers around the country and make a few bucks and then whittle it down. But you're only really just a little over a year out, and so this is really full tilt and if people want to know more, it's probably important that they start paying attention. Yeah, definitely. Look, we recommend to jump on our socials and follow, obviously, Blitz Golf. You should subscribe to our newsletters and get ready for all the announcements. But we're planning to lock in our schedule by around November this year. So we'll know what that is internally. We'll be planning around that. Simon, good on you for developing something new and exciting that seems to have staying power in the game of golf. I really applaud you for your efforts and your fortitude. Thank you very much. And thanks for joining us on "Golf Life," and we'll be back with more in just a moment. We will see highlights from Blitz Golf London when "Golf Life" returns. Enjoy this excerpt from the recent Blitz Golf tournament event in London, England. Great stuff. Welcome to Blitz Golf, a fast-paced knockout format guaranteed to deliver excitement and drama. The field is 12 professionals and 12 celebrities. It's a shotgun start, six holes of stroke play golf with 12 spots up for grabs in round two. If there's a tie on the cut mark, it goes to a nail-biting nearest-the-pin competition. One shot and one chance to advance and keep your hopes alive. The scores reset, and now it's just three holes. The margins get smaller, and the pressure gets bigger, with only four spots available in the final. Every Blitz event finishes with a spectacular sudden-death shootout at the stadium hole. Who will be our Blitz Golf champion? Some fantastic golf in round two with Brooke at three under, and Karn, White, and Bautista shooting minus two to join her in the final. The party is over for celebrities Bullard and Carmichael Brown. I've got the number now after just making birdie, so I feel good with the shot in hand. It's just getting it over the line now, but excited, excited. I've often said golf needs this. It needs a six-hole kind of format, 20/20. It's really enjoyable. And first round, sort of you've got to get through, and then you've got to go for it a little bit. So each round ramps up a bit. So yeah, got to make a birdie here now. That's basically it. I think the system of having six holes and then three, it keeps way more people entertained. I love it. I'm lucky enough to have got through. I'm very happy with my eagle on the last that made me through, and yeah, I've just had a really good day, thank you. Well, the thing is, I wake up and I kiss excellence. I'm the greatest there ever was. I'm Muhammad Ali, but better. When you want me to win, I win. You want a better player? Come to me. That's a punchy interview from Bautista. But who's got the shots to clinch the title on the stadium hole? White has the honor. Looks like he loves it. And that's why. Bautista looking to live up to the fighting talk. Right at it. What a scene it is here as Brooke sends her birdie effort on its way. Nice pace. That will be good enough for a three. Karn from the fringe. Oh, it's a good try. There are still two players to go. Bautista floats like a butterfly, but can he bury this to sting like a bee? Come on! Come on! White has to drain this to extend the final. Come on. Brooke and Karn are out, so it's Bautista and White going toe to toe. So for the first time today, it's the nearest to pin playoff. One shot each to decide the champion. Oh, come on. Oh. That's pretty good from Bautista, but is it enough? It's good enough. Come on. Austin thinks so, but White has a chance to deliver the knockout blow. And he's done it. Thank you, brother. Well done, brother. Thank you so much, man. There you go. You did it, my boy. We did it. Hey, my boy. To be honest with you, I'm absolutely buzzing. But obviously, for the golf and for everyone here, what a show. But more importantly, we've got my little boy here. Brilliant To actually be here, the good vibes, to come out, to be able to see something like that with a crowd like this is just great. We share golf gear for your golf life when we return. Hey, now it's time for Mike's Picks. I've found three golf products that I believe every golfer will enjoy, and up first is the Binder Golf Gloves. Now, I have been playing these golf gloves for about 10 years, folks, and I have a few gloves that I've worn many rounds, and they're still in great shape. They're so durable, and they just look great on the course, feel great. Head to bindergloves.com and check out the colors and styles. Now, here's my take. I love the style options, and I love the affordability. Go pick up four styles for less than 100 bucks, and you'll have a durable glove to last you for years. It's bindergloves.com. That's where you get the best gloves in golf. Head over to bindergloves.com to check out the styles and the colors. Next up are Yes Putters, and I got to tell you, for years, my gamer putter, the one that I've always gone back to, is the Yes Tracy. It just fits me, and I hit it straight. So I reached out to Yes, and they sent me the new Tracy 2 and the Marilyn Mallet. Now, what makes these putters work is that patented precision-milled Arc Face Technology. Now, here's why it works. Most putters actually hit the ball in the air, and they cause it to skid before your golf ball starts to roll. This is a fact if you look at high-speed footage, and it leads to inconsistency. I love the way this putter rolls the ball clean and smooth right on the line, and it keeps it there. Plus, the distance control is consistent round after round. Now, I love this new Marilyn. It adds even more alignment features in a smaller mallet design. Now, I endorse Yes Putters, and if you're struggling to hit your putts on line, give them a try. Head to yesputters.com. Finally, I want to tell you about the Rope Club. This is a cool, lightweight training aid that you can use anywhere, and later in the show, top teacher Mike Maggs is going to give you a tip on how to create consistent lag, and the Rope Club is exactly the tool to help you feel it. Now, if you use it correctly, you'll impact the small, spinning target perfectly, and the audio feedback on a solid strike of the target lets you know you're swinging that club correctly. I also love it for timing and for training the proper kinematic sequence in your swing. Now, as the Rope Club starts to hit my back, I begin to move my lower half and my front hip, and that generates speed the right way. The Rope Club really helps link up your timing with proper lag. Now, if you head over to golflife.com, you'll find deals on these products and many, many more. So head over to golflife.com right now, and here's that tip on lag from Mike Maggs that we promised. Lag. Most people don't really understand it or how to make it happen. They think it has to do with being really strong and hanging on and hanging on. The more we hang on, the more it really wants to go. What I'm going to show you is, it has a lot to do with what the trail arm is doing and how the body moves in the swing. What I'm doing with my students is I create a one-handed shot here to show as I take it back with my arm and down through with my belt buckle, it's going to create that lag. What we're going to do is a little hard with one hand. We're going to put two hands on. We're going to do the same thing. We're going to keep this very small. We're just going to go club parallel, straight back, going back with our shoulders, and then the downswing is going to be the belt buckle pulling through. To do this, you have to be soft enough in your body and then have your elbow and your wrist just soft enough that it can absorb the change of direction. So as we see, right as you're getting to the top, we're going to change directions and go. You're going to keep your head down, let the club go by, and the toe of the club pop right up. So if we see there, very simple drill where we take it to parallel right as we're getting to the top. We're going to have a little softness in our wrist and our right elbow, or our trail elbow, and then we're going to shift and release. You can see my head stays down, and I went ahead and let the toe of the club come up. So here we go. Let's see if we can create some lag. So make sure if you want to hear more about these kind of tips, go to our website, www.southerncalgolfacademy.com, or see us on social media, @southerncalgolfacademy. Thank you.
