Tiger Woods Signs Deal With Bridgestone Golf
Tiger Woods has become the first Nike athlete to sign an endorsement deal with another company. If you have lived under a rock for the last four months, Nike announced that they were transitioning out of the golf club and golf ball manufacturing business. Because of this, it caused all their golf athletes to be “free agents” when it comes to golf clubs and golf balls. During the last four months, we have been waiting patiently as to whom players like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy will pick up as endorsements to meet their golf club and golf ball needs. The 14-time major signed a multi-year deal to play the Bridgestone B330-S Golf Balls.
The terms of the contract were not released, but what we do know is that agreement will allow Tiger to play a big role in the development of future balls, this coming from Corey Consuegra. Corey Consuegra is the senior director of marketing at Bridgestone. If Tiger Woods is going to play an instrumental role in the development of the golf ball, his first call should be to Kirkland. Those guys seemingly promoted a terrible golf ball and now they are completely sold out at Costco’s around the nation. If Costco can sell golf balls like they are hot cakes, I’m pretty sure Tiger Woods can sell some Bridgestone Golf Balls.
If you watched the Hero World Challenge, you probably noticed that he was playing a Bridgestone. With the thousands of cameras, it was hard to miss. But the relationship between Tiger Woods and Bridgestone came when Mark Steinberg, Tiger’s agent, asked Bridgestone to send Woods some golf balls to test. Along with other manufacturers, Woods tested ball speed, spin, and launch angle. At the end of the day, it is safe to say that the Bridgestone B330-S golf balls outperformed other brands.
After a 15th place finish in the Bahamas, the two teams reached an agreement and the rest is history. Well, maybe not history, but at least for a couple of years.
MARK MY WORDS: Tiger will be playing Kirkland Golf Balls in 2020. Apparently, those things are gold in the golfing world these days!
